Salted lemon 7 Up
Salted lemon 7 Up is a drink originating in Hong Kong, which is made of salted lemon and 7 Up. It is a common drink that can be found in dai pai dong and cha chaan teng, etc., while it is also named one of the Hong Kong summer drink by Cathay Pacific Discovery.
==History and Origin==
The origin of salted lemon 7 Up is difficult to be traced. One common saying is that this drink is a variation of lemon 7 Up, which has been available in cha chaan teng since the late 1990s. Since some production method of salted lemon 7 Up includes the use of Chaozhou lemon,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.douguo.com/cookbook/46846.html )〕 there is another claim that the creation of the drink is under the influences of their food culture. Other people believe that the origin of salted lemon 7 Up is a recreation of lime soda, a local drink in Vietnam. Vietnamese lime soda has a similar making method comparing to salted lemon 7 Up, as it can be made by putting lime slices into soda water, with sugar added in.
